Plaster, Joint Compound, Acrylic Paint, and Polyurethane on Sheetrock

Jennifer Remenchik is a Los Angeles–based artist whose work combines relief painting and sculptural elements to explore transformation and meaning. Using acrylic paint, plaster, and joint compound, she layers washy surfaces over three-dimensional forms such as plaster embossings and casts of her own body. Many works incorporate ritualistic elements—like incense and candle holders—that invite reflection and intimacy. Her practice reflects interior emotional and intellectual states, translating the tumult of daily life into meditative, resonant experiences. Remenchik received her MFA in Art from the California Institute of the Arts and a BFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin. She has exhibited at Studio A1, Brand Library & Art Center, No Gallery, VIVO Media Arts Centre, HILDE, basement projects, Industry Lab, and The Contemporary Austin, among others, and participated in residencies at A-Z West Works, Arquetopia, the Banff Centre, PAF, and the Vermont Studio Center.
