Amanda Maciel Antunes (also known as dama) is a Brazilian artist and occult practitioner based in Los Angeles. Raised in rural southeast Brazil, her autodidactic, transdisciplinary practice bridges language and ritual through painting, performance, writing, sound, film, and assemblage. Guided by bibliomancy, automatism, and mediumship, her work explores the arcane as both research and revelation.
The photographs in my collage series are fragments of my life—captured in various places and times, printed in the square ratio native to social media, where they first lived as a digital archive. Since 2017, I have engaged in a daily ritual of recombining these images, allowing them to converge through acts of cutting and stitching. This process began with Memory Dissolution, an attempt to rescue memories from the “cloud” and return them to material form. Over time, the work evolved into an oracular practice, where chance encounters between images reveal new meanings, nonlinear narratives, and the porous boundaries between memory, time, and presence.
